How to join in 4 simple steps

STEP 1: Watch the onboarding video

Get to know Boavizta! Watch our short onboarding video at the bottom of this page to learn about our mission, values, and how we collaborate.

STEP 2: Complete the registration form

Tell us about yourself, your interests, needs, and skills, by filling the form. This will help us to support you better. Once submitted, you’ll be redirected to HelloAsso to finalize your membership.

Choose your contribution:

  • Individual: We offer a regular membership as well as a free option for those who need it, no questions asked.

  • Organisation: Join under your organisation’s name. As a thank you, we’ll feature your name on the page Member Organisations.

  • For members of organisations that are already Boavizta members: please fill out the form, and then select the option "Legal Entity - Fees already paid" on HelloAsso to request access.

STEP 3: Access your member tools

After completing your registration, you'll receive a welcome email with access to our tools:

STEP 4: Introduce yourself to the community

We’d love to meet you! Introduce yourself in our dedicated Mattermost Channel #Welcome/Bienvenue and join the next virtual Bi-Weekly meeting to connect with the community and share your skills.

  • I don't have much time, is it still worth joining?

    Absolutely! Every contribution counts, whether it’s occasional or regular. We design our projects and missions to accommodate different levels of availability, so you can participate in ways that fit your schedule.

    Here’s a rough estimate of time commitment based on member roles:

    • Active member: ~1 hour per week

    • Project contributor: 2 to 4 hours per week

    • Project manager: 4 hours to 1 day per week

    Your involvement can evolve over time, contribute as much or as little as you can, based on your availability and the needs of the projects.

  • How are contributions used?

    Your contributions directly support Boavizta’s mission and operations. Here’s how they are allocated:

    Operating costs:

    • Recurring technical expenses (domain names, website hosting, wiki, API, and tools).

    • One-off communication costs (banners, posters, and promotional materials).

    • Travel expenses for members representing Boavizta at events.

    • Insurance, primarily for legal coverage.

    Reserve fund:

    • A portion is set aside for exceptional costs, such as legal advice or intellectual property needs.

    Important Note: Contributions do not fund salaries or employees, Boavizta is a volunteer-driven association.

  • How much does the contribution cost?

    We offer flexible contribution options to accommodate everyone:

    Individual: €20 (or free for those who need it, no questions asked).

    Organization (legal entity):

    • <50 employees: €100

    • >50 employees: €1,000

    Your contribution helps sustain our projects and community. Thank you for your support!

  • How long is the membership?

    Your Boavizta membership is valid for one year. You’ll receive a reminder to renew when your anniversary date approaches. Renewal helps us continue our collective mission!

  • I have another question, how can I connect with the community?

    Our public Mattermost chat is the perfect place to connect live with members, share your ideas, or get answers to your questions. It’s also a great way to meet a passionate and committed community.
